How to fill in the template, field by field

Work through it in the order the sections appear.

1. Personal details: name, contact information, city. No date of birth or photo unless they're requested: they aren't mandatory, and many recruiters prefer them left off.
2. Work experience: reverse chronological order, starting with your most recent job. For each entry, give the dates, role, company and 2-3 concrete results, not a list of duties.
3. Education and training: same reverse chronological order. Specify the qualification, the institution and the year.
4. Language skills: use the levels from the Common European Framework (A1-C2), not vague phrases like "good".
5. Digital and other skills: name real tools and verifiable certifications.

Always replace the sample text in the template: leaving placeholder phrases in is the most common mistake, and the most damaging.

Mistakes to avoid when filling it in

• Forcing every section to be filled: if you have no publications or projects, remove the section. An empty field reads as more polished than one filled with filler.
• Sending the Word file: it breaks on someone else's computer. Export to PDF.
• Text that's too long: aim for one page, two at most. The European format isn't an autobiography.
• Inconsistent dates: check that the months and years line up across the sections.
